We Connect

Your vehicle's technology, at your fingertips

With Volkswagen We Connect1 your vehicle can now be even more digital, closely integrated and comfortable. A wide range of services can conveniently be accessed via your smartphone and the We Connect1 App. The app connects your smartphone to the vehicle with an integrated eSIM card.



Breakdown call

In the event of a breakdown, we get to your location quickly. With Breakdown Call, you can call for breakdown assistance from your vehicle with the press of a button. The system will send your location and vehicle information directly to our breakdown service partner. 

Parking Position

The Parking Position Service shows where your car is located. If necessary it can also show you the fastest way of getting to it

Service Scheduling

When a service appointment is pending, your Volkswagen passes on all key data to your preferred Volkswagen retailer, who will in turn contact you.



Emergency Call Service 

With the Emergency Call Service, you are covered in the event of a serious incident. In emergency situations, your vehicle calls for help automatically, or alternatively you can press a button to do so.

Lock and Unlock2

Lock and Unlock allows you to control the central locking system of your vehicle – using your smartphone, you can conveniently lock and unlock the doors and luggage compartment.

Online Anti-Theft Alarm2

If an attempt is made to break into the car, the Online Anti-Theft Alarm will inform the We Connect app on your smartphone or by email.




Amazon Alexa⁠⁠³

With the Amazon Alexa in-car app, you can now use your driving time to plan your day-to-day, heat your home in advance or draw up shopping lists. Amazon Alexa is directly integrated into your Multivan's and ID. Buzz's infotainment system and you can use it with the voice command “Alexa” as usual – while keeping both hands on the wheel. Alexa learns constantly from interacting with you.


App-Connect

Just because you’re on the road doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have access to your most vital apps. With App-Connect you can use a selected range of apps via the dashboard of your Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle.



How to set up and use We Connect

Setting up We Connect is quick and easy. Simply follow the four steps listed below.

Download the We Connect app

Download the free We Connect app for your smartphone for free. The We Connect app for Android is available in the Google Play Store or the App Store for iOS.

Create your user account

Log into to the app using your We Connect account. If you haven't set up an account yet, the app will guide you through each step of the registration process.

Ensure you have both sets of vehicle keys

Now you can pair your vehicle to the account via the vehicle’s infotainment system, and set yourself as the ‘Primary User.’ Please ensure you have both sets of keys with you to do the next step.

Pair your vehicle to your We Connect account

To complete pairing, in the vehicle infotainment system, select 'Users' from the menu:

  • Sign in to your We Connect account as a new user
  • Conclude the We Connect contract 
  • Select 'Become Primary User' 
  • Select 'Synchronise' - you should now see the vehicle in your mobile app and can take advantage of the We Connect features. 

Pairing my not work first time, reset the infotainment system to factory settings and follow from step three again. Also, ensure the ignition is on but the engine is off.



We Connect FAQs

Is my vehicle compatible with We connect? 

Currently all Transporter 6.1 vehicles (except chassis cab) and the Caddy and Crafter ranges are compatible with We Connect, either as standard or as an optional extra.

How do I connect my vehicle to the internet so I can use We connect? 

​All Transporter 6.1 vehicles (except chassis cab), the Caddy and the Crafter panel van Trendline are fitted with an onboard eSIM card as standard (available as an optional extra on other Crafter models). This gives you an integrated data connection and enables your vehicle to connect to the We Connect portal automatically via the Internet.

How do I select a Volkswagen Van Centre?

You can select your Van Centre in the We Connect portal. Once you've selected, you'll gain access to features including service appointments and automatic scheduling. If you own more than one vehicle, you can select preferred Van Centres individually for each.

1. To use We Connect services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and must log in to We Connect with your user name and password. A separate We Connect contract or We Connect Plus contract will also need to be made online with Volkswagen AG. For We Connect Plus you have 90 days after the handover of the vehicle to register the vehicle.

To use Alexa, you need an Amazon user account.  Volkswagen AG (Volkswagen) allows access to Amazon Alexa Voice Services using this in-car app. Volkswagen is not responsible for providing the Alexa services. Amazon provides the Alexa services at its own responsibility. Use of Amazon’s Alexa services is governed by Amazon’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Information on data processing for the purposes of passing on data to Amazon can be found in the We Connect Privacy Policy. To use the Alexa in-car app in a Volkswagen, you also require a Volkswagen ID and a We Connect contract whose scope includes the voice control option. Data connection costs shall be borne by you. The Alexa in-car app is exclusively available/usable in vehicles with the following country-specific equipment: United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France and Japan. Your Volkswagen dealership can tell you whether your vehicle meets this requirement. Currently only the above countries are supported by the Alexa in-car app, as Amazon Alexa is only available for these countries.
